  • On Saturday, July 8 between 8 am – 5 pm (PT), the COG IT department will conduct important maintenance on COG systems. During this time-period, all COG systems will be unavailable for use by COG Members and COG staff.

    This includes, but is not limited to, the following applications and services:

    • .Patient registration, reservation, enrollment, callback, manual registration and treatment assignments, study transfers and study data entry in eRDES/OPEN (Data entry in Medidata Rave is not affected)
    • All COG Web and desktop applications (e.g., COG Member Web site, Manuscript Review, Research Administration Portal, COG Reports (SSRS), ProCon, SMR etc.)
    • All COG network related systems and services (e.g., email, VPN, helpdesk, etc.)

    Please download the attached specimen transmittal forms in the event it is necessary for you to collect and ship specimens during the outage.

    During the maintenance, please be aware that the following applications will be unavailable:

    • COG Patient Registry in OPEN (will not be possible to obtain COG Patient ID or update patient demography for study enrollment)
    • Enrollments on COG studies in OPEN (will not be possible to perform Manual Enrollment)
    • eRDES reservations, study enrollment and study data entry

    In addition, Patient transfers on COG studies (OPEN TUMS) and Site registration approvals will not be processed during maintenance and should be scheduled around the maintenance window.

    Note: COG Member Web site (with exception of eRDES), OPEN enrollments and study data entry in iMedidata Rave are not affected.

  • Cancellation of the Spring 2020 COG Group Meeting

    Due to the increasing travel restrictions due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its ongoing and potential future impact, the COG 2020 Spring Meeting is cancelled in its entirety. In the rare event that a meeting attendee were to be exposed to COVID-19, having a large group of health care providers who are charged with caring for children with cancer potentially exposed, especially given our gaps in knowledge about this virus, is a risk that we should not take.

    COG members should visit the member’s website for additional information.

  • Douglas S. Hawkins, MD, Elected New Group Chair for the Children's Oncology Group

    ImageDouglas S. Hawkins, MD, has been elected the next Group Chair of the Children's Oncology Group (COG) to succeed Peter C. Adamson, MD. Dr. Hawkins will assume his duties as Group Chair, effective March 20, 2020.

    Dr. Hawkins is currently the Hematology/Oncology Division Chief at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. After receiving his MD from Harvard Medical School in 1990, he moved to Seattle for his pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship training. He joined the University of Washington faculty in 1996, where he has spent his entire academic career.

    Dr. Hawkins has been the Chair of the COG Soft Tissue Sarcoma Committee since 2008 and a member of the COG Bone Tumor Steering Committee. He also chairs the COG Scientific and Discipline Chairs Committee. His clinical research has focused on the biology and treatment of pediatric sarcomas. He has been the chair of two COG clinical trials, one for Ewing sarcoma (AEWS0331) and another for rhabdomyosarcoma (ARST0531). He chairs the international EURO EWING Consortium External Advisory Board and is the Chair of the Data Monitoring Committee for the European Frontline and Relapse in RhabdoMyoSarcoma Study (FaR-RMS). He has been an author of more than 180 peer-reviewed manuscripts, textbook chapters, or invited commentaries.
