Markers in Cancer Diagnostic Development Tutorial

Applications are now being accepted for the Markers in Cancer Diagnostic Development Tutorial, open to selected early-career oncology professionals in academia and industry.  This unique Tutorial, to be held May 5-6, 2014, in Bethesda, Maryland, will provide insight into the development of biomarkers for clinical use through an interactive, team-based format with discussions and lectures led by distinguished faculty.

This limited-attendance workshop will focus on the process of developing a biomarker, including discovery, analytical and clinical validation, and implementation in clinical practice. Educational didactic sessions will delve into practical, statistical, and regulatory issues, followed by breakout group sessions in which participants will gain firsthand experience in the development process with guidance from experts in the field. Working in small teams, participants will create development plans for assays that will aid clinical decisions related to choice of therapy. The Tutorial will conclude with each challenge group presenting its proposal and receiving constructive feedback in a mock board review.

The Tutorial will take place just prior to the Accelerating Anticancer Agent Development and Validation Workshop.

Attendance is open only to early-career oncologists and industry representatives within the first 8 years of their training or career.  Full eligibility requirements, application guidelines, and a preliminary program agenda are available at markersincancer.org.
